San Diego Continues to Attract New Residents

San Diego stands out once again as a top choice for people looking for a fresh start. Redfin data shows a clear pattern. More buyers want to come into San Diego than leave it. The largest groups arrive from Los Angeles, Raleigh, San Francisco, Washington DC and Boston. These cities have seen major shifts in cost of living, job structure and overall lifestyle over the past decade and those changes help explain why so many people land here.

People are learning what life in our city offers and they are choosing it with confidence. San Diego provides a strong job market, mild weather, a calmer pace and a lifestyle that does not require giving up career ambition. For many, it strikes the right balance between opportunity and livability.

Now a quick look at the exit markets. When people leave San Diego, they tend to pick Boise, Hilo, Nashville, Portland or Las Vegas. These areas have grown rapidly as families search for more space and lower costs. Remote work opened the door for that shift and even today it remains a major factor in relocation decisions.
