San Diego Market Report 02/25/26
What this auction really means for local home values
You may have seen it: Over 500 homes in San Diego going up for auction. Sounds like a crash, right? Not even close.
San Diego County holds a tax default auction every year for properties delinquent for at least five years. This year there are 686 parcels — but 550 are timeshares, 66 are vacant lots, and only 70 are improved properties. That is not a wave of homes hitting the market. It is a routine county process.
San Diego remains supply constrained, equity rich, and demand driven. For investors, there can be opportunity, but these sales are final — no inspections, no contingencies.
If you want real insight into how this affects your home or whether bidding makes sense, call me. I will always give you the numbers behind the noise.
